What are the similarities between Shakespeare's Shylock (The Merchant of Venice) and Angelo (Measure for Measure)
I'm kind of a blank drawing here. I'm just finishing work and the need to write a paragraph or so (~ 150 words) describing some other similarities between these two characters. Got that either can be considered tragic comedy or performance, and that comedy is restored, respectively, in any work because of the way the letter the law is carried out against any of them (Portia de Shylock and the Duke Isabel / etc / cons Angelo), and how we are saved by mercy the spirit of the law (by the Duke of MFM, and Antonio MOV). It would be nice if anyone knows of Angelo makes biblical references in his own defense, as it does Shylock MOV (ie "a Daniel come to trial!" etc.) I have read so many things to play a couple of times, but after a time, and I'm a little burned in this work which is due in a couple of hours.
Just read Measure for Measure a few months ago and I remember Angelo always appeal to the authority of the Bible as their defense appealed. I would say both Angelo and Shylock tried to rape the justice system when they themselves were both wrong – be hypocritical Angelo and be vengeful Shylock. You could then based on this that has made them to be saved by the mercy of the spirit of the law.
