Cms define (sort of) "The heavy use"

During the last week of December, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Office of National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) announced a proposed rule brings us to a definition Final of "use with the meaning" of electronic health records (EHR).

According to the CMS website, the Recovery and Reinvestment Act 2009 (Recovery Act) was promulgated by President Obama on February 17, 2009. The legislation includes the Health Technology Clinical Information Economy and Health Act, or "HiTech Act, which established the Medicare and Medicaid payments to provide incentives for" wise use " of certified electronic health records (EHR).

  • According to the law of Hitech, CMS administers the incentive programs Medicare and Medicaid EHR. CMS has prepared a draft regulation on incentive programs and EHR has made available for public comment rule. View the link below.

(Note: Click on View Details to see the proposed rule, click on "Submit Comment" when you want to send us your comments / opinions of the proposed rule).

  • According to the law of Hitech, ONC is responsible for developing standards, specifications, implementation, and certification criteria for EHR technologies. See the link below to view the Interim Final Rule and submit a public comment.

THE BASICS:

  1. CMS has identified three stages proposed criteria of great utility as follows:
    1. Phase 1 focuses on the electronic capture and tracking information codified health, use data for the coordination of care, and reporting of clinical quality measures that CMS and health. For Phase 1, which begins in 2011, CMS proposed 25 objectives for the legal profession and 23 goals for hospitals that must be met to be considered a "key user" EHR technology.
    2. Phase 2 (completed at a later date with what little significant use of a moving target), will expand in step 1 in areas of disease management, clinical decision support, medication management and support for patient access to information Health among others.
    3. Step 3 (which will also be completed at a later date), will focus on achieving improvements quality, safety and efficiency.
    4. The interim final rule describes the ONC a first set of standards for the exchange Secure Health Information on the requirements, procedures, laboratories, etc.

The two rules proposed are subject to change without public notice period of 60 days. Our research publication suggests that many health professionals and traders consider the 25 aforementioned objectives to be too heavy and complex and in some cases, a barrier to EHR adoption.
